01

What ScanAudit does

What does ScanAudit actually do?

ScanAudit captures a precise digital copy of any physical space, then turns that copy into documents, models, and online tools your team can use immediately.

Instead of sending people to measure a building every time you need a renovation quote, a fit-out plan, or a design update, you scan it once. From that point on, everyone on your project has access to an accurate, up-to-date picture of the space, from anywhere in the world.

Is this only for large buildings or stadiums?

No. ScanAudit was originally built for some of the world's largest venues, including FIFA World Cup stadiums and Olympic facilities, but the same technology works for any space: a single retail store, a hotel, a construction site, a road corridor, or an entire city block.

For organisations with many locations, such as retail chains or hospitality groups, the platform is especially effective because one team can manage survey data for dozens or hundreds of sites from a single dashboard.

How is this different from a standard building survey?

A traditional building survey produces a set of drawings that reflect the space at one point in time. They are often based on manual measurements, which introduces human error. Sharing them requires sending files back and forth, and the moment a renovation starts, the drawings are out of date.

ScanAudit produces a living digital model. It captures the space at millimeter accuracy. The result is accessible online, shareable with any team member, and can be updated to reflect changes.

Who typically uses ScanAudit?

Our clients include property and facilities managers, retail operations and store development teams, architects and construction project managers, event coordinators, and municipal infrastructure teams.

What they share is a need for accurate spatial data that multiple people can access and act on, without constant travel to the site.

02

How it works

How does the scanning process work?

A certified ScanAudit operator visits your site and captures the space using professional-grade laser scanning equipment. Depending on the size and type of space, this can involve a handheld or backpack device, a vehicle, or an aerial drone.

The scanner measures millions of points per second, building an extremely detailed picture of everything it can see: walls, floors, ceilings, fixtures, and the relationships between them. This raw data is then sent to ScanAudit for processing.

How long does a survey take?

Capture time depends entirely on the size and complexity of the space. A single retail store typically takes a few hours. A large sports facility may take one to two days. Multi-site programmes can cover several locations per week.

We will give you a specific estimate based on your project during the initial consultation.

Does the scan disrupt day-to-day operations?

In most cases, no. Scanning can be carried out before opening hours, outside business hours, or in sections so that operations continue normally. Our team will work around your schedule.

The equipment is quiet, does not involve any drilling or physical alteration of the space, and leaves no marks or residue.

How accurate is the data?

ScanAudit delivers accuracy to within a few millimeters across the entire survey. This level of precision is consistent whether you are looking at a single room or a building with hundreds of spaces.

Small measurement errors compound. A 5 cm error in a floor plan can mean a fixture that does not fit, a construction conflict that causes delays, or a renovation budget that runs over. Our accuracy standard eliminates this category of problem.

03

What you receive

What do I actually receive at the end of a project?

Every ScanAudit project delivers at minimum:

  • An online viewer: a secure web link your team can use to explore the digital model of your space from any device, at any time, without specialist software.
  • 2D floor plans and sections: accurate drawings in formats compatible with standard design and construction tools.
  • A 3D model, depending on scope, this can range from a navigable 3D space to a full architect-ready building model.

Additional deliverables such as material and surface specifications via our SurfaceLab integration, clash detection reports, or ongoing data updates are scoped per project.

What is the online viewer?

The viewer is a secure web-based platform where you and your team can navigate the digital model of your space. No software installation is required. It works in any modern browser.

You can measure distances, annotate areas, share specific views with colleagues or contractors, and navigate through the space as if you were walking through it. Access is controlled by login credentials, so only authorised people can view your data.

What file formats do you deliver?

Standard deliverables include point cloud data in LAS or LAZ format, 2D drawings in DWG or DXF format compatible with AutoCAD, and 3D models in RVT (Revit) or IFC format for BIM workflows.

If your team uses specific software, let us know at the start of the project and we will confirm compatibility or provide the appropriate export format.

How quickly do I receive the deliverables?

The online viewer is typically available within a few days of the scan. Full deliverables including 2D plans and BIM models are delivered according to the project timeline agreed at the start, which typically ranges from one to three weeks depending on scope.

Working with ScanAudit

How do I start a project?

Contact us with the location of your space, a rough description of its size and type, and what you need the data for. We will respond with a scoping proposal within 24 hours.

From there, we confirm the scope, assign a certified operator in your area, and schedule the survey at a time that works for your operations.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. ScanAudit operates globally through a network of certified scanning operators across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. We have delivered projects on four continents.

For locations where we do not yet have a certified operator nearby, we will advise on lead time and options during the scoping process.

What happens to my data after the project?

Your data belongs to you. Raw scan data, processed models, and viewer access remain under your control. Data retention periods are agreed at project start.

You have the right to request deletion of raw capture data after deliverables are accepted. No data is held beyond the agreed window without your written consent. For full details, see our Security and Confidentiality page.

Can I update the scan data after the initial survey?

Yes. ScanAudit offers ongoing survey data updates and as-built plan revisions to reflect changes in your space over time. This is particularly valuable for facilities undergoing phased renovations or retail networks where individual stores are regularly updated.

05

Joining the network

What is the ScanAudit operator network?

The operator network is a global community of certified scanning technicians who execute physical surveys on behalf of ScanAudit. Operators handle the capture on site. ScanAudit handles everything after: post-processing, BIM modeling, viewer access, and client delivery.

This model allows ScanAudit to deploy qualified operators anywhere in the world without building a captive field team in every market.

Who can join as an operator?

We accept applications from independent scanning technicians, small survey firms, and drone operators who want to expand into LiDAR-based as-built surveying. Prior LiDAR experience is helpful but not required. Certification through LookAcademy covers the full ScanAudit protocol.

What are the two operator tracks?

Track A, ScanAudit-Equipped: Scanner access is provided by ScanAudit. A monthly fee covers scanner insurance and LookAcademy certification. This track is designed for operators who want to start with low upfront capital.

Track B, Self-Equipped: You purchase your scanner at a preferential price negotiated by ScanAudit and pay insurance only. This track suits operators with existing capital or equipment.

Both tracks require LookAcademy certification before first deployment, and both give you access to project assignments at a published rate card plus commission on clients you bring to ScanAudit.

How do I apply?

Send a message to sales@scanaudit.com with your location, your current equipment situation, and a brief description of your background. We review all applications and respond within 48 hours.

You can also visit the Operator Network page for full details on how the network works.
